Category — choose a topic from the header dropdown; select Random to have categories chosen each round.
Timer — choose a countdown or set Timer: Off to disable timing for rounds.
Settings (gear) — contains Tournament, Show Scoreboard, Auto Advance, Hints, Dark/Light, and Reset Scores.
Modes
Tournament — single toggle in Settings. When enabled: filters are locked, category is forced Random, timer is set to 30s, Auto Advance is enabled, and hints are disabled.
Competitive behavior — hints are disabled in competitive/Tournament mode; scoring/readiness impacts are stronger.
Hints
Hints (Settings) — choose All, Half, or None. Half reveals up to half the canonical answer; the Hint button will disable once the cap is reached.
Give Up — reveals canonical and example answers for the round.
Round Flow & Input
A letter appears on the right and the category on the left. Type answers starting with that letter.
Live validation accepts correct answers as you type and shows a green checkmark; correct answers end the round and display examples.
After a round ends the Hint button becomes Next Round; press Enter to advance. Auto Advance will move after a short countdown if enabled.
Scoring & Persistence
Streak, Best, Correct count, and Rounds are shown in the scoreboard (toggle visibility in Settings).
Tournament Readiness (0–1000) is shown in the score panel and influences competitive scoring behavior.
Settings and filters are saved to localStorage under fastfacts_filters. Scores are saved under fastfacts_score.
Tip: Use the gear menu for all persistent preferences (mode, hints, auto-advance, scoreboard visibility, theme, reset).
